WHOLE PERSON APPROACH

My approach is to work with the many aspects of a person's life as a whole rather than compartmentalized into separate, distinct, and unrelated pieces. In daily life, a leader moves between many contexts. Humans act differently depending on the context. It is, therefore, advantageous to work with leaders with this in mind as it helps get to the root of things (systemic factors, organizational culture biases, etc.) as opposed to superficially dealing with only symptoms (poor performance blamed on individual, failing to see the interrelationship of related "issues," etc.)

BUILDING CAPACITIES: Capacity building is more than developing new skills, it is understanding and developing new pathways of thinking. These new kinds of thinking affect how the “whole person” operates. Thinking newly in one area retrains the brain how to grow in other domains.

SELF-AWARENESS AND REFLECTION: One of the most powerful tools for identifying core strategies (adaptive or maladaptive), increasing self-awareness, and growing emotional intelligence is The Enneagram. It is an effective way of understanding oneself and others. Continual investigation and reflection using The Enneagram foster core self-honesty. It also uncovers a person’s filters, blinders, and unique worldview. Rather than “putting people into boxes”, The Enneagram helps a person see what box s/he is already in- a box that limits freedom and ability to respond appropriately to situations- and how to expand that “box” or even start to deconstruct it.

AWARENESS DOES NOT EQUAL CHANGE: Becoming aware of a new insight, mode of operating or thinking does not mean that we immediately and permanently start operating differently. In order to handle challenges with agility and in new ways that support change, it takes time and being in an environment where application, ongoing learning, and reflection are part of everyday practice.
